Cairns, Queensland

Today, we packed our bags and caught a late flight to Cairns. We arrived at around 10:30 pm and took a taxi to our accomodation, Cascade gardens. Due to our late arrival we had to pick up our key via the safe. Once we got inside, we relaxed & enjoyed our room, it was very nice! 





We woke up the following morning, and heading to Rusty's markets, recommended by the receptionist of our apartment. It was full of tropical fruit all of which was local produce. We sampled & bought some of the fruit to enjoy over the course of our trip. 
We walked out of the market and crossed the road to a cafe, called Lillypad, it was heaving. Initially it was too busy to get seas so we walked back over to the market & grabbed a juice each.  I had a Mango, Orange and Passionfruit  juice whilst Lau had a green juice of celery, lime, mint and apple.
We walked back to the Lillypad cafe, which was still rather busy so we had to wait a little before we could get a seat. 
When we did sit down, we both ordered a latte & some food.
I picked the Pads House Salad - roasted pumpkin, eggplant, zucchini, with fresh tomatoes, cucumber, asparagus, and spinach with a balsamic dressing. It was lovely! :)


Afterwards, we walked around town so we could get our bearings. It was pouring down with rain but that didn't stop us from buying some ice cream! This was not just any ice cream, it was nitrogen powder ice cream, which meant we could actually watch them make it before we ate it.  just any though. 



I picked the "Salt Lick Caramel" gelato which was salted caramel gelato, with whipped cream and caramel topping. 
The gelato itself was gorgeous! 



We went food shopping, to grab a few bits and bobs for the weekend! 


Today had been such a stormy day due to the cyclone that had recently circled the area. We both looked like drowned rats after the storm :') 


When we got back to the apartment we watched TV for a bit, had a shower and then got ready to hit Cairns for the night!  
We had a glass of sparkling moscato to start the night whilst getting ready to out! 






We walked down the road and went to the Earth tapas and cocktail bar. We had an antipasto platter, tacos with minced beef and chunky potato wedges. Along with 2 cocktails each, I choose a watermelon caprioska and a Passionfruit, orange and lemon martini. Lau choose two of the orginal caprioska. 



Once we finished our food we had a dessert cocktail, a chocolate and mint martini. Oh my, it was like heaven! Better than mint ice cream! It was so good that we had to get another! 


We walked further down to a club called Gilligans, attached to a bag packers hotel. Tonight they were holding a special Minestry of Sound event. 
It was such an awesome night, the music and remixes were spot on! :) 
I think I've made Lau love clubbing now! 
We arrived back at our room at around 2:30, safe to say we were both rather tired.
